Who this policy covers
This policy describes information handled by TeaNovel Discovery when you browse the catalog, use an account, manage a shelf or list, contribute content, or contact us. It also covers visits to the Legacy Archive served by this website. Contact TeaNovel at support@teanovel.com with privacy questions.
TeaNovel Read, original novel websites and sign-in providers operate separate services with their own privacy policies. Opening a link takes you to that service; it does not synchronize your Discovery shelf or lists with Read.
Information we handle
- Account information: your email, display name, optional profile image, a stable account identifier, and the authentication and session records needed for sign-in. If you choose Google or Discord, we receive the identity and profile information returned by that provider, including a verified email.
- Saved activity: the books on your private reading shelf, your lists and their members, saved-list relationships, reviews, replies, reactions and submission status.
- Technical information: requests, timestamps, session information and network or browser details needed to deliver pages, prevent abuse and diagnose failures. Hosting and delivery services may process IP addresses and request logs.
- Support information: your email and the details you choose to send when requesting help, reporting content or raising a rights concern.
If you choose a profile photo, your browser prepares a small cropped image before uploading it. The original photo file is not uploaded. Do not include sensitive personal information in a display name, image, review, list or support message.
Why we use it
We use this information to authenticate you, save the actions you request, display approved contributions, process reports and appeals, respond to support requests and protect the service. Browsing the public catalog does not require an account; saving personal activity and contributing content do.
Where applicable privacy law requires a legal basis, processing relates to providing the service you request, our legitimate interests in security and community moderation, or legal obligations. If we ask for consent for a separate purpose, you can withdraw that consent by contacting us. We do not use sign-in codes as permission to send marketing.
Private and public information
Your reading shelf, saved-list relationships, private lists, email and authentication details are not public. Authorized service operators may access information when necessary for support, security or moderation.
An approved public list, review or reply can be read by other visitors and is associated with your display name. Public counts may include your contribution without exposing your email. Pending submissions and review reasons are available to you and authorized reviewers rather than the public.
Making a list private or deleting public content withdraws it from current public access. It cannot erase copies already viewed, saved or independently shared by others. Use a private list when you do not want its contents published.
Automated content checks
Content submitted for public publication can be assessed by AI services through Vercel AI Gateway and its model providers. Checks receive the submitted text and relevant book, list or conversation context so they can assess the contribution. Private lists are saved without these publication checks unless you submit them for public visibility.
Automated results can approve, reject or refer content for human review. Submission status shows the available revision and review options. We retain submissions and review history to explain decisions, handle appeals and prevent a superseded decision from restoring withdrawn content. Do not put someone’s private information in a submission.
Cookies and storage on your device
Authentication uses cookies to maintain a session and protect sign-in. Blocking them can prevent account features from working. Sign-in codes are temporary; they are not a permanent password.
Browsing history and the homepage’s monthly browsing activity are stored in this browser. History contains recently opened book titles, covers and related display information, with up to 100 distinct books. It is not synchronized to your account and does not measure reading time or chapter progress.
Account features may keep a small local cache to load your shelf faster. Account caches are isolated by user and cleared when you sign out or switch accounts; device browsing history is separate. You can remove local information through your browser’s settings for TeaNovel site data. Clearing it does not delete the shelf or lists saved to your account.
While editing a list, your browser can keep a temporary recovery copy of its name, introduction and selected books. These copies belong to your account and are cleared on sign-out. Copies older than 24 hours are not restored; clearing site data removes local recovery information as well.
Service providers and disclosure
Infrastructure providers help us host, deliver and secure the service, including Vercel and Cloudflare. Cloudflare Email Sending handles sign-in email delivery. Google or Discord participates when you choose that sign-in method. AI moderation providers process the content described above. These services may process information in countries outside your own; their handling is also subject to their applicable policies and agreements.
Cloudflare Turnstile checks browser and network signals to help prevent automated sign-in and submission abuse. See the Cloudflare Turnstile Privacy Addendum for details.
We may disclose information when required by a valid legal obligation or when necessary to investigate abuse, protect people or resolve a rights claim. We limit access to the purpose involved. Public contributions are visible according to your publication choices.
How long information remains
Account records and saved relationships remain available while needed to provide your account features. You can remove books from your shelf, delete your own lists or contributions, and cancel saved-list relationships using the account controls.
Removing visible content does not necessarily remove its original submission or restricted moderation history. Security, support, audit and backup records may remain where needed for unresolved appeals, abuse prevention, recovery or legal obligations. Retention depends on that purpose and any unresolved issue rather than a promised single deletion period for every record.
Your choices and requests
You can browse without signing in, edit your display name and photo, manage list visibility, remove saved items, delete your own contributions, sign out and clear local site data. For a copy of your account information, a correction you cannot make yourself, or an account-deletion request, email support@teanovel.com from your account email when possible. We may need to verify that the request belongs to you, without asking for your sign-in code.
Depending on applicable law, you may also have rights to restrict or object to processing, request portability, or complain to your local data protection authority. We will explain any information that must be retained and the reason when handling your request.
Security and policy updates
We use access controls, session checks and restricted service permissions to protect information. No online service can guarantee that every risk is eliminated. If you notice a privacy or security issue, contact us without posting private details publicly. Please also contact us if you believe a child has supplied personal information that should be removed.
We update this policy when the service or its data handling changes and revise the date above. See About and contact for help and Terms of use for contribution rules.
