At the age of 8, Lin Jian's family experienced a sudden misfortune, and he was taken in by the 20-year-old Shen Ke into the Shen family mansion. Shen Ke, gentle and rational, raised the child with a balance of strictness and leniency. Lin Jian spent ten years by Shen Ke's side. Outsiders knew that he looked up to his uncle, but they didn't know that a forbidden and unspeakable obsession had long taken root during those years of companionship. Shen Ke raised him, and he fell in love with him.
On the night of his 18th birthday, the usually calm and aloof Lin Jian mustered the courage to ask Shen Ke, "Now that I'm 18, is it really impossible?" Shen Ke sighed gently and gave him the most gentle and rational answer, "No matter how old you are, you are the child I raised, my family."
Lin Jian then left for five years without a word. When they met again, Lin Jian had tucked away all his fervent and delusional feelings, maintaining the "family" façade obediently. Shen Ke, however, looked at the young man before him, his eyes shifting slightly as he laughed self-deprecatingly, "I didn't expect that at my age, I'd have to learn how to court someone again."
Lin Jian: … Who?
Uncle, didn't you say we were family?
Later—
Shen Ke asked him with a smile, "Tell me, why did you finally agree?"
Lin Jian, his face cold and his ears burning, stubbornly replied, "Chasing someone isn't easy. Considering your age, I was afraid you couldn't handle it, okay?"
Shen Ke thoughtfully nodded: Okay.
And then—
Lin Jian, eyes slightly red, buried half his face in the pillow, biting his teeth and cursing lowly: "Is this what I meant by 'couldn't handle'?!"
Shen Ke's warm, deep laughter fell by his ear, his voice slightly hoarse as he coaxed, "I'm older, so there's a misunderstanding."
"But being 12 years older isn't the same as 12 inches..."
"Be good, don't be scared."
"……"
